Grant Guidelines

The Avadian Foundation will consider grants to organizations and activities that meet the following criteria:

  • The grant must be for a 501(c)(3) organization.
  • The grant request must align with our areas of strategic focus: affordable housing, financial education, small business development, or education.
  • The organization must complete the grant application.
  • The organization must conduct activities in one of the counties within Avadian Credit Union’s Field of Membership.
    • Those counties are Autauga, Baldwin, Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Coffee, Colbert, Cullman, Dallas, DeKalb, Elmore, Etowah, Fayette, Franklin, Geneva, Houston, Jackson, Jefferson, Lamar, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Lee, Limestone, Madison, Marion, Marshall, Mobile, Montgomery, Morgan, Pickens, Pike, Randolph, Shelby, St. Clair, Talladega, Tuscaloosa, Walker, and Winston.
  • The organization must have a two-year track record.

Grants are not renewable, but organizations may apply for additional grants in the future.

Organizations receiving grants will be required to complete a 90-Day Impact Report informing the Foundation on the usage of the funds.

Grant proposals to the Avadian Foundation are evaluated on the following considerations:

  • The requesting organization’s sources of support
  • Ability to provide Impact Reports with actual program results
  • The grant’s overall impact on Avadian Credit Union members
  • The grant’s overall impact on the community or communities served
  • The availability of funds

The Avadian Foundation will not consider grants based on the following:

  • For the purpose of building assets or capital
  • To individuals, athletic/sports teams, programs, or leagues
  • To sponsor(s) of, or to, political or partisan organizations; for-profit organizations; religious groups or religion-based organizations unless the group or organization has a separate 501(c)(3) designation that aligns with the Foundation’s mission
  • To organizations that discriminate, including but not limited to, based on race, gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnic origin, citizenship, veteran status, or disability status

Note: The Avadian Foundation reserves the right to refuse or limit the amount of any grant request at its sole discretion. The duration of the review process can vary and is determined by the Board’s schedule. If your request has a deadline, please take this into account and allow ample time for review.
